Ridley Scott Signs On To Direct Battle Of Britain

Academy Award-nominated Kingdom of Heaven director Ridley Scott is ready to serve as director for 20th Century Fox‘s upcoming war film Battle of Britain.

As one of the most esteemed filmmakers of his generation, Scott’s involvement with any given project does much to raise interest in said project. His second film, 1979’s Alien, proved to be a massive success and propelled him to prominence, going on to helm such noteworthy productions as Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, Black Hawk Down, and most recently, The Martian, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Not much has been made public about the planned drama aside from the fact that it is set during World War II and will deal with, as the title indicates, the ferocious air war waged between the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe as they struggled for supremacy in the skies over the United Kingdom.

Comingsoon.net, the source of this story, shares the following about Scott’s other upcoming project, Alien: Covenant:

Scott’s Alien: Covenant opens in theaters on May 19, 2017. He’s also set to direct All the Money in the World about the 1973 kidnapping of J. Paul Getty for Sony and The Cartel for Fox, adapted from the Don Winslow bestseller about a corrupt detective in the NYPD.

If there was any doubt that 79-year-old Scott is game to keep expanding the Alien universe — the prequel saga is planned as a four-film cycle starting with Prometheus — Scott said, “If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six.
