Bear Story Short Film. Gabriel Osorio Vargas‘ Historia de un oso / Bear Story (2014) short film, which won Oscar for Best Short Film at the 2016 Academy Awards, has been released online. Bear Story has also won 45 other international film awards for short films.

Bear Story‘s plot synopsis: “An old, lonesome bear tells the story of his life through a mechanical diorama.”
The short was inspired by the director’s grandfather, Leopoldo Osorio, who after the Chilean coup d’état was imprisoned for two years.
I didn’t what to think about this short film when it began but towards the middle of it, right around the time the diorama began, I was hooked. This is a very impressive animated short film as well as a sad one (referring to the emotions on display in the short).
