Better Things: Louis C.K. To Direct FX Pilot Starring Pamela Adlon

Adlon To Star In Better Things Pilot For FX. During the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, FX announced it has picked up the pilot for Better Things, which was created by and will star Pamela Adlon and be directed by Louis C.K. . FX also used their time to share that they closed a deal to televise Louis C.K.’s next stand-up comedy special that will debut on the comedian’s website.

Adlon and C.K. are set to write the pilot and executive-produce along with Blair Breard and Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment. Here is a brief synopsis of the show.

Better Things stars Adlon as Sam, a working actor trying to earn a living, navigate her three daughters’ lives, having fun with a friend or two, and also — just maybe — squeezing in some sex once in a while. Her life is funny to watch, but you wouldn’t want to live it (except sometimes).

Better Things is not the only time that C.K. and Adlon have teamed up to write a pilot. In 2008 the duo co-wrote a pilot for CBS that was never picked up which seemed to have worked out better for them in the long run. Considering the raunchy and sardonic humor that Adlon and C.K. are known for, FX is a much better fit. After years of watching Adlon steal scenes during her brief appearances in everything from from Californication to Louis, I’m excited to find out what she has in store for audiences now that the spotlight is shining solely on her.
