Disney XD Decides To Renew Big Hero 6 For Second Season

Disney XD has already opted to go ahead and green-light an additional season of the network’s upcoming animated TV sequel series of Big Hero 6.

The announcement will come as both a surprise and a treat to fans of the film as the show has yet to even debut on the airwaves, being set to premiere on the network later this year. Set in the immediate aftermath of the film, the program will continue following Hiro and Baymax as they make their way through the hi-tech world of San Fransokyo.

In a rare feat for TV spin-offs, most of the original cast of the original movie have signed on to reprise their roles for the series, including leads Ryan Potter and Scott Adsit (Hiro and Baymax respectively).

Superherohype, the source of this story, provided the following list of others set to lend their voices to the program:

Additional guest cast for the Big Hero 6 series includes Jenifer Lewis (black-ish) as strict Professor Granville; Andrew Scott (Sherlock) as villain Obake; comedian Andy Richter as Globby; Diedrich Bader (American Housewife) as Bluff Dunder; Susan Sullivan (Castle) as Fred’s mother; Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs) as Richardson Mole; John Ross Bowie (Speechless) as Mel; and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) as classmate Karmi.

Emmy Award winners Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi (the team behind the global hit Disney Channel series Kim Possible) serve as executive producers.
