The last great Bruce Lee movie that I saw that was good was Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. Birth of the Dragon seems like the next one. Philip Ng seems to have really captured Bruce Lee’s wit, charm, and sarcasm. In addition, the fight scenes look good. Some of them seem a little over-the-top but this is a Hollywood production. Grounding the fights in reality like in Red Belt would not help with theater attendance. I would rather not, though, have seen Bruce Lee perform a superhero landing à la Deadpool.
Birth of the Dragon also stars Billy Magnussen, Vanessa Ross, Natalie Stephany Aguilar, Teresa Navarro, Christina July Kim, Steven Wiig, Steven Roberts, King Lau, Yee Jee Tso, Melody Peng, and Felix Chu.
