The recently released novel Blood Oath – written by Christopher Farnworth – has already been picked up by Lucas Foster and Warp Films for a feature film adaptation, as has its planned sequel Black Site. Blood Oath‘s plot synopsis: “The story follows a vampire captured by the U.S. Army after the Civil War who is forced to swear an oath to President Andrew Johnson and has since protected the presidency in the Secret Service for over 150 years. The vampire, named Nathaniel Cade, is paired with a new human handler and finds himself embroiled in a plot involving a monstrous new form of biological weapon with a connection to the White House.”
Foster has picked up the rights for “Oath” and its follow-up, “Black Site,” which Farnworth is still writing, and will develop scripts for them simultaneously. Farnsworth will work with a screenwriter to help guide the look and feel of the scripts and receive an exec producer credit. Justin Manask, who reps Farnsworth via the Office of Literary Adaptation, also will be involved on the producing side.
Usually I leave the writing up of upcoming films to others but this film sounded too cool not to write about. This film reminds me of Blood: The Last Vampire. In that story, a vampire girl works secretly for a branch of the government hunting down vampires as well. It also reminds me of True Blood becuase the main character, like the Blood Oath, previously lived in Civil War times. This film sound be good. What do you think?
