BOOSTER GOLD (2018): Film Will Have No Ties TO DCEU

Booster Gold Comic

Greg Berlanti says that Booster Gold will not tie in to the DC Extended Universe. The Arrow and Flash executive producer explains that the film will be a standalone production unrelated to Warner Bros.‘ other DC movies.

With such properties as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl under his belt, it was hardly a surprise when it was announced that Berlanti would work on a project that focused on the time-traveling superhero. Even more exciting was the news that it would be a film, leading many to assume that it would somehow connect to the DCEU.

As Berlanti made clear in an interview with Vulture however, there are no plans to incorporate Booster Gold into the fabric of the wider DC film franchise. That being said, the producer did preface his comments with “As of right now”, so it’s possible that this could change between now and the film’s debut in 2018:

Zack Stentz, who co-wrote X-Men: First Class, Thor, Power Rangers, and an episode of The Flash, has penned the script for the feature film which was rumored to be a “buddy cop superhero movie” starring Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.

Created by Dan Jurgens in 1986 and featured in his own eponymous series, Booster Gold is the superheroic identity of Michael Jon Carter, a resident of the 25th century who travels back in time to the present day DC Universe. There, he makes use of his futuristic technology to become a hero, at first eschewing traditional heroic notions of justice and nobility and instead signing endorsement deals and shamelessly self-promoting.
