BOOSTER GOLD: Greg Berlanti Confirms Involvement, Desire To Direct

Booster Gold

Greg Berlanti reveals that he will be involved with Booster Gold. The Arrow and Supergirl producer confirms that he will work on the upcoming DC universe film from Warner Bros.

Envisioned as a buddy cop film featuring the time-traveling superhero Booster Gold and his ally Blue Beetle, the project has long been rumored to have Berlanti helming it. The veteran DC television producer, however, didn’t speak on the matter until recently.

Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Berlanti finally confirmed that he is going to work on Booster Gold. While he said that he will “probably” direct the movie, he seemed to cast a little doubt on the possibility, adding “or I would want to.” This means he could end up serving in a position other than director on the production:

It is worth noting Berlanti made no mention of Blue Beetle as part of the film as the earlier rumor suggested, though with the film still in development the character could make an appearance.

Created by Dan Jurgens in 1986 and featured in his own eponymous series, Booster Gold is the superheroic identity of Michael Jon Carter, a resident of the 25th century who travels back in time to the present day DC Universe. There, he makes use of his futuristic technology to become a hero, at first eschewing traditional heroic notions of justice and nobility and instead signing endorsement deals and shamelessly self-promoting.
