Box Office Top Five
The Lego Batman Movie held on to the number one spot for another week with $32.7 million. Fifty Shades Darker maintained its runner-up status with $20.3 million. The Great Wall opened at number three, earning $18.5 million. John Wick: Chapter Two dropped to fourth place, with $16.3 million. Fist Fight opened in fifth with $12.3 million.

This is the only movie anyone cares about this week, right? One might have expected Jordan Peele to make a comedy for his first outing as a director. After all, he’s the co-creator of Key and Peele! But Peele zigged where he could have zagged, and instead made a satirical horror movie about race relations. It seems like it worked out well for him, since Get Out has gotten phenomenal reviews across the board. As of this writing, the film still holds a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 124 reviews counted. That is seriously unprecedented. The buzz is strong around this film, and it should almost definitely take first place at the box office this weekend.
Get Out will certainly take the number one spot this weekend, while The Lego Batman Movie will follow close behind for second. John Wick: Chapter Two has a chance to bump back up to third, while I think Fifty Shades Darker will drop to fourth. Hidden Figures will return to the top five, taking the fifth slot.
