Box Office Top Five
As expected, Logan dominated the box office last weekend, opening in first place with $88.5 million. Get Out dropped to number two with $28.3 million. The Shack managed to do surprising business by opening at number three with $16.2 million. The Lego Batman movie landed at number four with $11.8 million and John Wick: Chapter Two rounded out the top five with $4.9 million.
Here is a look at a few films that are opening on March 10th.
Kong: Skull Island (PG-13) 118 mins.
This is the only major wide release this weekend, and it’s a big one – both because it’s highly-anticipated and because it is literally about a giant gorilla monster. King Kong returns to theaters for the first time in 12 years in Kong: Skull Island, and reviews are pretty strong. Word is that the movie’s a blast, the action scenes are fun, and the cast is totally stacked. Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly; they are not messing around here. The movie should do well, but I’m not sure it will open at number one. I think Logan has another week at the top, but Kong should open with a strong second place.
Logan will take the number one spot again, while Kong will open at number two. Get Out will take third place, and The Lego Batman Movie and John Wick will once again be four and five.
