Box Office: April 28, 2008

Baby Mama, the new release about motherhood and surrogate moms, took the top spot this weekend with $18.2 Million. Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, the sequel to 2004’s Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, premiered in the Number Two position this weekend with $14.5 Million. The Forbidden Kingdom was third, dropping 47.5% of its audience from its premiere last week and brought in $11.2 Million. The second major premiere of last week, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, dropped 37.9% of its audience while taking in an additional $11 Million this weekend. Nim’s Island was Fifth with $4.5 Million. Prom Night, the neutered, PG-13 horror film remake that surprised everyone with its initial box office take, played in an additional 121 theaters from last week but still dropped 49.3% of audience. Prom Night was sixth this weekend, bringing in $4.4 Million. 21, 88 Minutes (the last major release of last week, earned an additional $3.6 Million this weekend), Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! and the last major premiere of the weekend, Deception (2008), with $2.2 Million, rounded out the top ten respectively. Streets Kings, Eleventh place and Leatherheads, Twelfth place, brought up the rear.
