Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween premiered in the Number One spot at the box office over the weekend with $21.6 Million.
Geostorm premiered in Second Place with $13.3 Million. Happy Death Day was Third with $9.3 Million. All three of the Top Three films have benefited from opening in the month of October, a good strategic move on their part. Whether they have legs is another matter.
Blade Runner 2049 was Fourth at the box office over the weekend with $15.1 Million. Only The Brave premiered in Fifth Place with $6 Million. The Foreigner , It, The Snowman, American Made, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle rounded out the top ten respectively.

Boo 2! A Madea Halloween is a 2017 American comedy horror film written, produced, directed by and starring Tyler Perry. It is the tenth film in the Madea series, the sequel to Boo! A Madea Halloween (2016), and the third Madea film (after Madea’s Witness Protection and Boo!) not adapted from the stage play.
Geostorm is a 2017 American disaster film co-written, produced, and directed by Dean Devlin as his feature film directorial debut. The film stars Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Alexandra Maria Lara, Richard Schiff, Robert Sheehan, Daniel Wu, Eugenio Derbez, Ed Harris, and Andy García. The plot follows a satellite designer who tries to save the world from a storm of epic proportions caused by malfunctioning climate-controlling satellites.
Only the Brave is a 2017 American biographical action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer, based on the GQ article “No Exit” by Sean Flynn. The film tells the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite crew of firefighters who perished while battling the Yarnell Hill Fire in June 2013, and is dedicated in their memory. It features an ensemble cast, including Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, Taylor Kitsch, James Badge Dale, Jennifer Connelly, Alex Russell and Ben Hardy.
The Snowman is a 2017 British crime thriller film directed by Tomas Alfredson and written by Hossein Amini and Peter Straughan, based on the novel of the same name by Jo Nesbø. The film stars Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Val Kilmer, J. K. Simmons, and Chloë Sevigny, and follows a detective who tries to find the identity of a killer who uses snowmen as his calling card.

A preview: as the last two weeks at the box office have shown, U.S. theater-goers have a persistent taste for horror during the month of October (which I am sure movie producers are taking note of for next year). Jigsaw, without a doubt, will be Number One at the box office this coming weekend.
