Sully was Number One spot at the box office over the weekend for the second week in a row with $22 Million. Blair Witch premiered in Second Place with $9.6 Million. Bridget Jones’s Baby premiered in Third Place with $8.2 Million. Snowden premiered in Fourth with $8 Million. Don’t Breathe was Fifth with $3.4 Million. When the Bough Breaks, Suicide Squad, The Wild Life, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Pete’s Dragon rounded out the top ten respectively.
Blair Witch is a 2016 American found footage psychological horror film directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett. It is a direct sequel to The Blair Witch Project and stars James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Corbin Reid, Wes Robinson and Valorie Curry. The film follows a group of college students and their local guides who venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance years ago of Heather Donahue, the sister of one of the characters. Initially, the film’s connection to the Blair Witch franchise was kept secret, with the film having been shot under the fake title, The Woods.
Bridget Jones’s Baby is a 2016 romantic comedy film directed by Sharon Maguire and written by Helen Fielding, Dan Mazer and Emma Thompson, based on the fictional columns by Fielding. It is the third film in the franchise and a sequel to 2004 film Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The film stars Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, who after becoming pregnant is unsure if Mark Darcy (Colin Firth, also reprising his role) or Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey) is the father.
Snowden is a 2016 German-American biographical political thriller film directed by Oliver Stone and written by Stone and Kieran Fitzgerald. The film is based on the books The Snowden Files by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena. The cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Scott Eastwood, Logan Marshall-Green, Timothy Olyphant, Ben Schnetzer, LaKeith Lee Stanfield, Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage.
