Box Office: Weekend of Aug. 1-3, 2008

The Dark Knight 3-peats it. The Dark Knight was Number One this weekend for the third week in a row with $43.8 Million, bringing its total to $394.8 Million. The Dark Knight should earn well over half a billion dollars before it leaves the movie theaters. The first major premiere of the week, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, was Second Place at the box office this weekend with $42.4 Million. Step Brothers was Third with $16.3 Million. In Fourth Place was Mamma Mia! with $13.1 Million. Journey to the Center of the Earth was Fifth with $6.8 Million. The second major premiere of the week, Swing Vote, opened in Sixth Place with $6.3 Million. Hancock, Wall-E, The X-Files: I Want to Believe and Space Chimps rounded out the top ten respectively.
