Box Office: Weekend of Aug. 8-10, 2008

The Bat continues to make film history in its fourth week of release. The Dark Knight has remained the Number One movie for the fourth week in a row, bringing in another $26 Million at the box office for a total of $441.5 Million. I’ll be happy for Christopher Nolan and the cast of The Dark Knight when the film finally hits half a billion theatrically. They deserve it. The first major premiere of the week, Pineapple Express, opened with $22.4 Million for Second Place. Third this weekend was The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor with $16.1 Million. Fourth was the second major premiere of the weekend, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, which opened with $10.7 Million. Step Brothers was Fifth this weekend with $8.9 Million. Mamma Mia!, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Hancock, Swing Vote and Wall-E filled out the rest of the top ten respectively.
