BRIX AND THE BITCH (2016) Short Film: An Illegal Fight Club With a Devilish Twist

Dre Swain Brix and the Bitch

Brix and the Bitch Short Film

Nico Raineau‘s Brix and the Bitch (2016) short film stars Dre Swain, Alex Marshall-Brown, David Carey Foster, Tim Storms, and Carlos Foglia. Brix and the Bitch‘s plot synopsis: “Trapped in a seedy and illegal fight club, one woman’s only chance for escape is to win a gruesome brawl against the one person she refuses to harm.”

Short films are getting better each and every day. Brix and the Bitch is the latest example. This film pulls no punches (no pun intended) when it comes to on-screen violence. Don’t be fooled though. It’s not the violence that makes this short work. It’s the script, acting, and choreography. The viewer becomes invested in the narrative in short order, rooting for Brix, The Bitch, or both during the final showdown.

Write-director Nico Raineau did a great job writing and directing Brix and the Bitch. Part of this film reminds me of a  MMA fight that took place in an episode of Cinemax’s Banshee. Both were brutal, Banshee‘s fight far more so though. The final fight in Brix and the Bitch, however, has an emotional context that the former lacked.
