CAPTAIN AMERICA: John Krasinski Would ‘Love’ To Play Villain In Series

John Krasinski Captain America

John Krasinski talks about acting in Captain America. The Office star made waves with remarks that he would love to play opposite Chris Evans in the Marvel film series.

Probably most known for playing playful office telemarketer Jim Halpert on The Office, Krasinski has come a long way from his role on the hit sitcom. Appearing most recently in the action-packed Michael Bay blockbuster 13 Hours, Krasinski is broadening his acting resume to include more serious roles.

Of course, this would hardly be the first time the 13 Hours star has set his sights on the lead in an action film. Way back in 2010 as The Office was beginning to wind down and production was barely starting on The Avengers, Krasinski auditioned for the role of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger. As fans well know, he lost the role to Chris Evans, who went on to reprise the role in the first Avengers film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.

Asked about losing the role of Captain America to Evans, Krasinski said he had no hard feelings, although he still hopes to act in a Marvel film someday. Somewhat surprisingly, he expressed interest in playing a villain in the franchise, a major departure from the actor’s previous comedic roles.

“The Captain America thing was hilarious. As much as I had fun doing it… I definitely got to wear the suit, I screen-tested and all those things. And I signed my life away that I wouldn’t even talk about it, so they’re going to kill me now; Thanks. But as soon as I heard that Chris [Evans] was considering it, I applauded. Chris is a good friend, and very very good at what he does, so I was so happy to see him do it. Maybe now I have to play a villain where I fight Chris. That’s what we need to do.”

He did not specify which Marvel villain he would like to play, but in any case, it would be interesting to see Krasinski face off against his one-time audition rival on film.
