Marnee Carpenter cast in Silence of the Lambs spin-off TV Series Clarice

Marnee Carpenter of Criminal Minds, Good Girls, and Wild Oats fame has been newly cast as Catherine Martin in the new television series Claricewhich takes place in 1993, a year after the events in the horror film, The Silence of the Lambs. CBS still has not released a specific premiere date or time for the series yet, although it is slated for 2021. The main focus is Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds), who has returned to her line of work as an FBI agent who pursues sexual predators and serial killers in the highly political world of Washington, D.C. The cannibalistic murderer Hannibal Lecter will not be the focus or even be featured in Clarice. 

Who is Catherine Martin?

For those who are unfamiliar with The Silence of the Lambs, Catherine Martin is U.S. Senator Ruth Martin’s daughter who was knocked unconscious and abducted by another serial killer named Jame “Buffalo Bill” Gumb, who initially appears to be in love with her after helping him put a couch in his van. She was eventually rescued from his basement by Clarice herself.

Additional Cast

In addition to Carpenter, the following actors have just been added to the cast: Jayne Atkinson from House of Cards and Criminal Minds will play Ruth Martin (who becomes and Attorney General), Shawn Doyle of The Expanse will play Clarice’s therapist,  and Tim Guinee of Homeland fame will play a member of a militia group.
