CONSTANTINE (2014): New Featurette Reveals First Look at Pilot

Matt Ryan Constantine

NBC Debuts New Trailer of Constantine. NBC is wasting no time in promoting their new show Constantine, a DC Comics adaptation of the Hellblazer series. In this new promo, we get a first look at the premiere episode with commentary from leading man Matt Ryan and the producers.

In the new trailer, we get a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the pilot. We also get a few words from actor Matt Ryan who spoke about his character. Matt describes John Constantine as a “con artist with a wicked sense of humor and a dry wit.” Despite his personality, Matt says that Constantine “has a spark of hope which drives him forward to help humanity.”

In the pilot, we see him in an asylum as he tries to understand what’s happening to him after he gains the ability to see demons and the supernatural. It’s good to see that his personality hasn’t been taken away from the comics for the show so expect a more faithful adaptation to the material than the film.

We even get interviews from executive producers David S. Goyer and Daniel Cerone who also developed and written the series. On the main character, David Goyer said, “These incredibly dark forces are seeping out into the world and the one guy who can save us happens to be the last guy you can ever want to trust.”

Recently voted as the third most popular hero in DC according to Goyer, the comic book scribe also said that Constantine would follow closely to the Hellblazer comics that has been in publication for almost 30 years. So are you guys excited to see Constantine once it arrives later this month?
