NBC to Make Decision for Constantine’s Future in May. Constantine may have ended their first and possibly only season last week, but NBC is still keen on keeping the ratings-challenged series on air. EP Daniel Cerone confirmed that no decision would be made on the series until May.
The media and fans had doubts whether Constantine would be picked up for a second season after NBC denied giving it the back nine-order keeping the show at 13 episodes. However, NBC allowed the supernatural drama to continue airing all it’s episodes on the same night. Not a lot of shows get this kind of treatment, so it is possible for Constantine to either be picked up or get shopped for another network.
Showrunner Daniel Cerone says it’s too early to tell what NBC’s decision will be. On his Twitter page, Cerone answered a fan’s question regarding the status of the series, in which he replied, “NBC made some early pickups but ?#Constantine not canceled. We’ll pitch them our plans for 2nd season in May. Then they decide.”
“Writers will meet and discuss,” he added. “Wherever we go, [though], our hope would be to embrace serialization.”
Cerone has advised fans to keep the show alive by streaming episodes available to them through Hulu and the NBC site. Cerone also hopes to get the full season available for everyone to watch for free. The showrunner said that if fans get the episodes through services like iTunes, Amazon, or on-demand, it might gain more attraction for NBC to make a decision.
