This trailer got my hopes up very rapidly. Those first 30 seconds are gold. It sets an eerie, desolate tone at the beginning, reminiscent of No Country For Old Men. Then it looks like unadulterated fun, full of reckless abandon and juvenile mischief. And then it devolves into fairly routine action-thriller beats.
The two kids – played by Hays Wellford and James Freedson-Jackson – look great, and I’m fairly confident from this short glimpse that they’ll be able to hold their own. Kevin Bacon looks creepy enough here, menacing and dangerous. He really wants that cop car, doesn’t he? I wonder what’s in the trunk…? Could it be drugs, the same ones we see him flushing down a toilet? Please, movie trailers, stop spoiling plot beats.
