CBS Gives Green Light 13th Season Of Criminal Minds
CBS has decided to go ahead and renew its long-running crime drama program Criminal Minds for what will be its 13th season.
To veteran observers, the news is hardly a surprise. Premiering back in 2005, the police procedural proved to be a hit with audiences and more than did its part to draw in viewers for the network. Even today, after the height of the program’s success, CBS can rely on the show to bring in an average of 10.8 million viewers during each airing.
What might have been surprising to some, however, was how long it took the network to announce that it would renew the series again. Indeed, CBS announced the majority of its early renewals last month without including Minds due to budget and production issues. In any case, it appears that these issues have been resolved.

After a major cast overhaul in the past year, with the departure of Shemar Moore, the shocking exit of Thomas Gibson, the return of Paget Bewster, the promotion of Aisha Tyler and the addition of Adam Rodriguez and Damon Gupton, there are no major changes planned for next season, with the cast expected to return. That includes veterans Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness.
Also expected to be back is showrunner Erica Messer, who executive produces with Mark Gordon and Breen Frazier.
