Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Short Film Prequels. Matt Reeves‘ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) prequel short films collective titled ‘Before the Dawn’ have been released. The first short film is entitled Spread of Simian Flu: Before the Dawn of the Apes (Year 1), the second is entitled Struggling to Survive: Before the Dawn of the Apes (Year 5), and the third is entitled Story of the Gun: Before the Dawn of the Apes (Year 10).
On the short films:
these shorts explore the time between the end of the last film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and the ten years in which the so-called Simian Flu devastated the human population. Each takes place at a different point in the timeline, marking one, five, and ten-year points in the pandemic.
