DEADPOOL (2016): Ryan Reynolds Talks Ratings

Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds Addresses Ratings Debate for Deadpool. It’s been on everyone’s minds on what rating will the Deadpool film be getting. Most fans agree that Deadpool should be Rated-R but the film studio can change that. Ryan Reynolds addressed those concerns recently.

Reynolds began filming Deadpool last weekend and took some time away to speak with Entertainment Weekly while promoting his latest film Woman in Gold with Helen Mirren. The outlet took the opportunity to ask the actor on what’s happening with the X-Men spin-off. With the film already in production, the question remains if ratings have been decided yet. “That debate rages on,” Reynolds revealed. “We’ll see.”

Reynolds expressed his thoughts on the film finally being made as a wish being granted when he wanted to do a Deadpool film back in 2005 and 10 years later it’s finally happening. So why the delay to make a movie about the Merc With A Mouth? Because it’s a really difficult character to put up on the screen for the studio,” Reynolds said. He also added:

He’s a character that’s aware he’s in a film, he’s aware that he breaks the fourth wall. I mean, he does certain things that are unlike anything else in the X-Men Universe yet he is a part of the X-Men Universe. So it makes it a little challenging, I think, to find a way. He’s so popular—the comic book alone [is] one of the most popular selling comic books of all time so it’s exiting to be here shooting it. We don’t have the budget that most X-Men movies do. In the super hero world, this would be considered an independent film.

Basically if we get an R-Rated movie, we are guaranteed to see lots of violence and bad language from Deadpool. However, a PG-13 movie will also allow more people to watch the movie. So what do you guys think the rating should be for the film?

Being directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool also stars T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, and Gina Carano. The film is expected to open in theaters February 12, 2016.
