Peter Capaldi Ready To Step Down As Doctor Who
In the Loop actor Peter Capaldi announces that he will retire from the role of Doctor Who when the BBC series’ 10th season ends.
Breaking the news on company’s Radio 2 network, Capaldi said that he felt that it was time for him to “move on” and that the show’s upcoming season will be his last. The series, which resumes on April 15th and will conclude around Christmas time, is one of the BBC’s most successful programs and is popular around the world. Also departing is Steven Moffat, who has served as a showrunner and executive producer on the show for some time now and is set to be replaced in these capacities by Chris Chibnall.
The announcement means that the network is likely to begin searching for someone to replace Capaldi right away, with it being unknown at this moment who might even be in the running to take over as The Doctor.
