“I’ve loved this property for seven years now,” JC Spink told Deadline, “and am so glad to be able to help make something happen for it in film.”

Drafted was launched in 2007 as a preview issue before being published with 12 issues. Along with the film’s production, Powers will also be relaunching the comic series starting in 2015 along with new issues.

The comic was slated to become a film from New Line Studios back in 2010, but no news was given on production ever since.

Drafted joins two other comic book series Fathom and Five Ghosts on a list of other projects being developed by Benderspink.
