DVD: Blade:The Series

SpikeTV dropped the ball by canceling Blade: The Series. I watched ever episode, every Wednesday a 10pm when it aired on SpikeTV last season. For a television show, the action was fantastic and got better as the series went on, as did the story-lines and character development. And the blood. I can not believe they got away with all of that blood on a television show. Jesus, throats cut up, messy hand to hand combat fights, you name it. Sticky was good as Blade, he certainly put on a lot of muscle for the role but I would have liked to have seen what Michael White could have done with the role. Jill Wagner, in the first major role I have ever seen her in, was great and believable as a Marine. When they showed that flash footage of her f*cked up on the gurney in Iraq during the first episode, it really set the tone for the rest of the series. Its too bad SpikeTV did not renew the series. I guess they decided to fall back on the UFC and its spin-offs instead. What is great about this box set is that David Goyer filmed alternate versions (bloodier, more violence and nudity) of certain scenes in anticipation of an eventual Blade: The Series DVD release, making this an even more exciting buy for fans of the television series and Blade in general.
