Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Benedetta, Ambulance, Raiders of the Lost, and Ragdoll are the most noteworthy releases on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Morbius and had this to say about the film:

Morbius is about the dangers of trying to outwit the natural progression of the circumstances one is born into. Jared Leto is a reliable actor and doesn’t disappoint with a compelling performance in an ultimately decent, but flawed, movie.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Benedetta and had this to say about the film:

Paul Verhoeven has added another well crafted, emotionally intense film to his resume. Benedetta could have been a lot less successful in another less experienced director’s hands but even as good as it is, the picture remains strictly for mature audiences.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Ambulance and had this to say about the film:

Ambulance is a first-rate thriller that has a couple of minor issues. You don’t go to a Bay movie for authenticity but one scene where a surgery is performed in the back of the ambulance, while exciting, seems far-fetched and the ending throws in everything but the kitchen sink to tie up all the loose ends but when the action is so wild and intense, it becomes easy to overlook the movie’s pretty minimal flaws.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Father Stu and had this to say about the film:

Father Stu could be written off as just another religious picture but it doesn’t deserve to be. There’s a lot going on in the movie and whether the film offers satisfying answers to all the questions it raises or not, it’s a picture that is still both challenging and rewarding. It deserves to find an audience.
