Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases
The home releases of Pearl, Three Thousand Years of Longing, Smile, Doom Patrol, Reservoir Dogs, The Wayne’s World, and The Infernal Affairs Trilogy are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.
FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Pearl and had this to say about the film:
As a follow-up film to X, Pearl doesn’t really hold a candle to that movie from six months back. Still, Goth delivers a powerhouse performance that really drives the film home. Pearl is a good movie. It’s just not X.

Elba and Swinton are always fantastic and create fascinating characters here nevertheless under Miller’s accomplished direction. There isn’t a lot of action in the scenes outside of the flashbacks and that’s exactly the point of the movie which was a bit of a problem for me.

The movie could have been cheesy in another director’s hands, but this movie becomes absolutely terrifying to behold the more it goes on.
