2016 Oscars and Annie Awards Editorial

From Inside Out rising to the top of the 2016 Annie Awards to Chris Rock carrying the 2016 Academy Awards to the bottom with bad #OscarsSoWhite jokes, Mathieu Brunet a.k.a. AniMat reflects on the winners and losers of this year’s Annie Awards and Academy Awards.

As you may already know, an Academy Award (an Oscar) is an “accolade by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in the world and is televised live in more than 225 countries annually. It is also the oldest award ceremony in the media.”

The Annie Awards, on the the other hand, are an American award for accomplishments solely in animation “presented by the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association.”
