Emmy Rossum: Shameless Showtime Photos

Emmy Rossum‘s Shameless photos for the new Showtime new television series have premiered. The photos showcase some of the squalor Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum), her five siblings, and their father Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) live in. Shameless is the American remake of

a BAFTA award-winning British drama television series set in the fictional Chatsworth council estate, Stretford, Manchester, England. Produced by Company Pictures for Channel 4, the first seven-episode series aired weekly on Tuesday nights at 10pm from 13 January 2004. The comedy drama, centred on British underclass and working class culture, has been accorded critical acclaim by various sections of the British media, including The Sun newspaper and Newsnight Review on BBC Two. Shameless is one of the most successful recent British TV programmes.

For the United States version of Shameless,

the sprawling Gallagher family has been transplanted to working-class Chicago during today’s recession. With a mother who is AWOL and an alcoholic patriarch (Macy) who usually ends up passed out on the living room floor, 18-year-old daughter Fiona is left with the task of keeping her five younger brothers and sisters on the straight and narrow.

With only this season of The Tudors left and Dexter‘s next season sometime off, Showtime made a good choice planting their flag somewhere else. Lets hope it pays off.
