EMPIRE OF THE DEAD: George Romero’s Zombie Series May Be Heading to AMC

Empire of the Dead

George Romero’s Empire of the Dead Going to AMC. Veteran zombie director George Romero’s comic book series Empire of Dead was in the midst of becoming a TV show, so the question was what network will pick it up. Well, Zombie artist Arthur Suydam said it might head to AMC.

The news leaked at Wizard World in Louisville, Kentucky, where Suydam was answering some questions in an interview. With a copy of the comic at hand, Suydam said on camera that he just finished working on the series and said that “This just got signed by AMC, so it’s going to be the next, big zombie series on AMC.”

There weren’t any reports previously as to which network would pick up the new zombie series. With AMC taking on the show, this would mark the network’s third zombie series in their lineup next to the popular show The Walking Dead and it’s spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. This would also be AMC’s third comic book adaptation, as Preacher will be releasing sometime next year.

Empire of the Dead takes place in the universe of Night of the Living Dead created by George Romero. The series is set in New York City as zombies start to get decimated, but humanity faces another threat in the form of vampires. The TV series will be written and produced by Romero along with Peter Grunwald. Zombies have been a craze on TV that started with The Walking Dead, which culminated to other networks following suit like Syfy’s Z Nation and The CW’s iZombie.

So what do you guys think of Empire of the Dead in the same network as The Walking Dead? Are you excited to see more zombies invading our TV screens soon?
