ENORMOUS: Comic Optioned for TV Miniseries

Enormous

Enormous To Be Adapted Into a TV Miniseries. The monster comic book series Enormous is going to the small screen in a big way. 20th Century Fox and New Regency is looking to adapt the comic book into a TV event miniseries to premiere on FOX.

Deadline spread the word that the two production companies have already optioned the 215Ink comic by Tim Daniel and Mehdi Cheggour to make it into an event miniseries for network television. Andrew Poltkin of New Regency TV and Prime Universe’s Adrian Askarieh will be executive producers on the project. There haven’t been any writers announced to be on board with the miniseries yet.

The series follows a story about Earth being overrun by giant monsters with humanity on the brink of extinction trying to survive in this new futuristic world. The plot follows Ellen Grace, who leads a search and rescue team through the monster-infected streets in order to rescue children. However, Ellen discovers that the real danger comes from not just the giant beasts, but from other humans as well.

Enormous began as a limited graphic novella in 2012 before getting picked up as a comic book series last year. The series has already been developed as a live-action web film for Machinima.

CBR interviewed Tim Daniel about the potential project, and here’s what he said:

There was an immediate interest in adapting the book for the screen, so it seemed natural to us both that if we got the chance, we should return to the story and tell it as it was conceived. We took it to 215Ink, revealing the full scope of the book and those wonderful folks were immediately on board, giving us a new lease on life and a rare second chance with our readers.
