FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: Production Begins for The Walking Dead Spinoff [AMC]

Fear The Walking Dead Starts Production. AMC has officially announced that production has begun for this summer’s highly anticipated new series Fear the Walking Dead. The Walking Dead spinoff will be filming in Vancouver, which substitutes for the show’s main setting in Los Angeles.

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will be executive producing the series along with Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, and showrunner David Erickson. Co-executive producer Adam Davidson will be helming the first three episodes, including the pilot. “Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of The Walking Dead,” Kirkman said in a press release. Kirkman also said:

A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We’re going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up.

“I could not be more thrilled to be continuing on this apocalyptic journey, dramatizing the horrific disintegration of society through the lens of a dysfunctional family. We’ve assembled a stellar cast and crew to tell our story — it’s going to be a great ride,” David Erickson added.

Fear the Walking Dead will follow the early days of the zombie outbreak in Los Angeles. The series will star Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam Carey. Also joining the cast are series regulars Elizabeth Rodriguez and Mercedes Mason. The six-episode first season will debut this summer.
