Inside Man 2, Birds of Prey, Genesis, and more have made recent film casting, screenwriting, and director news. These films come from movie studios primarily based in the United States and abroad. The castings, screenwriters, and directors are subject to change.


Kate Bosworth has been cast as a “mother searching for her daughter in a post-apocalyptic world.”

Brian Michael Scully wrote the screenplay for the Mike Lè Han-directed film.


Brianna Hildebrand has been cast as Darcy, a shuttle pilot on an output on the planet Proxima B.

This actress joins already cast: Mary-Louise Parker, Emile Hirsch, and Malcolm McDowell.

Persephone‘s plot synopsis: “The plot centers on three astronauts from Colony One, a space vessel carrying 20,000 colonists from a dying Earth to the nearest star system of Alpha Centauri in the late 22nd century. The trio have been dispatched to repair a system designed to shield their new world of Proxima B — also known as Persephone — from constant and deadly solar flares, the outpost the only option for the survival of the species. While commanding a critical mission to the planet Proxima B, shuttle pilot Darcy (Hildebrand) goes head-to-head with engineer Tanya Baxter (Parker) regarding the right course of action when they discover they may not be alone on the seemingly lifeless world.”

Jeffrey Morris wrote the screenplay for and will direct Persephone.

Birds of Prey

Ewan McGregor has been cast as Roman Sionis / Black Mask, “a Gotham City mob boss who leads the False Face Society gang. In the comics, he killed his wealthy parents in order to take control of their corporation, but he was a terrible businessman and lost everything. He blames others for his shortcomings with Bruce Wayne being one of his targets.”

This actor joins already cast Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, and Margot Robbie.

Christina Hodson wrote the screenplay for the Cathy Yan-directed film.

Birds of Prey will be released in U.S. theaters through Warner Bros. Pictures on February 7, 2020.

Corto Maltese

Tom Hughes has been cast as Corto Maltese.

Milla Jovovich has been cast in an undisclosed role.

James Thierrée has been cast as Rasputin, Corto’s sidekick.

Mark Dacascos has been cast in an undisclosed role.

Corto Maltese‘s plot synopsis: “In the film, Corto Maltese has been hired by a Chinese revolutionary group to hijack the armored train of the Russian Emperor Czar Nicolas II that is transporting his gold from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok with multiple schemes to capture this priceless treasure.”

William Schneider is writing the script for the Christophe Gans-directed film.

Toff Guys

Hugh Grant has been cast as a British tabloid reporter.

This actor joins already cast Matthew McConaughey and Kate Beckinsale.

Toff Guys‘ plot synopsis: “Toff Guys will explore the collision between old money European wealth and the modern marijuana industrial complex with new gang entrants swarming. Ritchie’s signature visual cocktail will be served with an abundance of fun.”

Marn Davies, Ivan Atkinson, and Guy Ritchie wrote the screenplay for the Ritchie-directed film.

Love is a Gun

Chloe Grace Moretz has been cast as Bonnie Parker.

Jack O’Connell has been cast as Clyde Barrow.

Love is a Gun‘s plot synopsis: “thrilling, gritty and emotional story of two of history’s most famous lovers, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.”

Sheldon Turner is writing the screenplay for the Kike Maillo-directed film. The screenplay is based on the book by Jeff Guinn.

Flash Gordon

Julius Avery has been selected to write and direct the film. The film will be based on 1934 serialized comic strip created Alex Raymond.

Attack on Titan

Andy Muschietti has been selected to write and direct the U.S. live-action adaptation.

The Time Machine

Andy Muschietti has been selected to direct the adaptation of H.G. Wells‘ novel.”The filmmaker and and his sister, Barbara Muschietti, have already written a treatment for the film.”

Monkey Man

Dev Patel has been selected to the direct action revenge film.

Paul Angunawela, John Collee, and Patel wrote the screenplay for the film.

Monkey Man‘s plot synopsis: “Steeped in mythology, the film will be set in a vibrant modern India and will follow the Kid (Patel), who emerges from prison to take on a world awash in corporate greed and eroding spiritual values.”

Inside Man 2

Aml Ameen has been cast as Remy, a NYPD hostage negotiator.

Inside Man 2‘s plot synopsis: “The U.S. Federal Reserve is robbed by a highly organized and cleverly orchestrated team of crooks. With dozens of tourists held hostage during a 10-hour siege, an NYPD hostage negotiator (Ameen) and a federal agent join forces to rescue the hostages and foil the heist.”

Brian Brightly wrote the screenplay for the MJ Bassett-directed film.

The film will be released on Netflix.

The Secrets We Keep

Noomi Rapace has been cast as Maja, a woman rebuilding her life along with her husband Dobie in New York after WWII. When they encounter an eerily familiar man their life starts to unravel. They wonder, could this be the officer who was one of their chief tormentors at concentration camp Birkenau all those years ago?”

Joel Kinnaman is in talks to join in an unspecified role.

The Pleasure Of Your Presence

Alicia Silverstone has been cast as a “woman (Silverstone) who attempts to stop her brother (Hoffman) from marrying a young, French girl (Olliver) during their wedding weekend in the Hamptons.”

This actress joins already cast: Tom Everett Scott, Jake Hoffman, Mathilde Ollivier, Noah Silver, Mark Blum, Julie Engelbrecht, and Ronald Guttman.

Amy Miller Gross write and direct the film.

The Obituary of Tunde Johnson

Steven Silver has been cast as Tunde Johnson, “a queer, black prep school senior who finds himself in an endless loop of police brutality.”

Spencer Neville has been cast as Soren O’Connor, “Johnson’s all-American athlete boyfriend who hides his sexuality from both his conservative father and society by maintaining a relationship with Tunde’s best friend Marley Meyers.”

Nicola Peltz has been cast as Marley Meyers, O’Connor’s girlfriend.

Stanley Kalu wrote the screenplay for the Ali LeRoi-directed film.

Axis Sally

Meadow Williams has been cast as Mildred ‘Axis Sally’ Gillars.

Al Pacino has been cast as an unspecified attorney who represents Axis Sally after her arrest in the United States.

Swen Temmel has been cast as a unspecified role.

Axis Sally‘s plot synopsis: “Axis Sally revolves around the controversial figure Mildred Gillars. After going to drama school in Ohio she traveled throughout Europe following her dream of fame before settling in WWII-era Germany with a job working as an actress on Radio Berlin, introducing records and musical performances and blanketing the world with messages that many deemed treasonous. Gillars became known to American soldiers as “Axis Sally,” the voice behind the Third Reich’s propaganda. Gillars attempted to leave but Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels threatened her with death should she try to defect. After the war, Gillars was arrested and returned to the U.S. and put on trial for treason. US authorities maintained that she was a traitor, whereas Gillars insisted that she was merely an actress in the wrong place at the wrong time, forced to swear loyalty to Germany against her will.”

Vance Owen and Darryl Hicks wrote the screenplay for the Michael Polish-directed. This film is based on the book by William Owen.
