Leave Not One Alive, Yes Day, Henry Cavill Exits Superman Role, and more Film Casting News
Leave Not One Alive, Yes Day, Henry Cavill, and more have made recent film casting, screenwriting, and director news. These films come from movie studios primarily based in the United States and abroad. The castings, screenwriters, and directors are subject to change.
Henry Cavill is longer Superman in DC’s Extended Universe
Henry Cavill will no longer be portraying Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman in the DC Comics Cinematic Universe. Henry Cavill will not be appearing in any future standalone Superman films, Justice League films, or another DC Comics film as Superman. A Warner Bros. spokesperson had this to say: “We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged. Additionally we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films.”
Cavill’s scheduling conflict with Mission Impossible – Fallout caused horrible additional Justice League scenes with a bearded Cavill that had to be digitally edited out. An impasse on contract negotiations and a scheduling conflict caused Cavill not to be available for a cameo in Shazam! These factors along with the fact that Warner Bros is focusing on a teen Supergirl film, which would age Henry Cavill out of his Superman role, led to Warner and Cavill parting ways.
With Henry Cavill out, there is speculation Michael B. Jordan may step into the role as the first black Superman on film. One already exists in comic books and his name is Calvin Ellis.
More on Calvin Ellis:
Calvin Ellis, Kryptonian name Kalel, also known as Superman, is a Kryptonian president of the United States, on a different Earth in the Multiverse. On his Earth, he became Superman in addition to being the president. It is likely he’s native to Vathlo Island, due to his reference to the word Vathlo. He operates from the White House, where Brainiac serves as his personal computer and even covers for him while he does his duties as Superman.
