His sidekick Cliff Booth (Pitt) — who’s also his stunt double — is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate (Rick’s neighbor in the film, portrayed by Robbie) and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story. The movie is said to be similar to a “Pulp Fiction-like tapestry” that covers a group of characters during that summer.”

The Mule‘s plot synopsis: “In The Mule, Clint Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well—so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl’s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it’s uncertain if he’ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel’s enforcers, catch up to him.”

Nick Schenk and Dave Holstein wrote the screenplay that will be directed by Clint Eastwood.

He’s a middling playwright amidst a mid-life crisis and failing marriage. His wife, Eliza Sugar (Monaghan), is tired of being second-fiddle to his work, she wants a family. But incapable of functioning in reality, Harold submerges himself in an elaborate play about his life. The only person who understands his plight is his best friend, Alexander Taft (Goldblum), a behavioral psychologist with a mid-life crisis of his own. The blind leading the blind, it doesn’t turn out quite how either envisioned. Blurring the lines between fiction and reality, we follow Harold as he descends into madness — the theatre can be a harsh mistress.”
