Rub & Tug

Scarlett Johansson has been cast as Jean Marie Gill, “a woman who flourished in a male-dominated business of massage parlors and prostitution by essentially taking on the physical identity of a man. [Gill was] a larger-than-life character who took on the mob and became the crime kingpin of 1970s Pittsburgh through her empire of illicit massage parlors and an anabolic steroids ring that helped fuel the Pittsburgh Steelers’ NFL dynasty, all the while cross-dressing and leaning on her allies in the gay community to help grow her empire. However, it is Jean’s fiery romance with her girlfriend Cynthia that truly defines her and forms the emotional core of the story.”

Gary Spinelli wrote the screenplay for the Rupert Sanders-directed film.

The King of Oil

Matt Damon is in negotiation to play Marc Rich, a “fugitive billionaire commodities trader that was pardoned by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office in a controversial decision. Rich, a child of the Holocaust, became the richest and most powerful commodities trader of the century. In 1983, he was indicted on 65 criminal counts, including tax evasion.”

The film is based on the autobiography by Daniel Ammann.

Waves

Lucas Hedges and Sterling K. Brown have been cast in unspecified roles in the movie musical.

Trey Edward Shults wrote and will direct the film for A24 Films.

Midway

Luke Evans has been cast as Commander Wade McClusky, “who would go on to win a Naval Cross for his role in Midway.”

This actor joins already cast Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore.

Wes Tooke wrote the screenplay for the Roland Emmerich-directed film.

Midway‘s plot synopsis: “Based on the true story of the Battle of Midway, a turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II, the film chronicles the heroic and harrowing exploits of the soldiers and aviators who achieved the unbelievable to turn the tide of the war.”

Hobbs and Shaw (Fast and Furious spin-off Film)

Vanessa Kirby has been cast in an unspecified role.

This actress joins already cast Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

Hobbs and Shaw centers on the pair of characters, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, from the main The Fast and the Furious franchise.

Hobbs and Shaw will be released in U.S. theaters through Universal Pictures on August 2, 2019.

Chris Morgan wrote the screenplay for the David Leitch-directed film.

The Many Saints of Newark (The Sopranos prequel movie)

Alan Taylor has been selected to directed the film.

David Chase and Lawrence Konner wrote the screenplay for the film.

The Soprano’s prequel film is set in the 1960’s during the era of the Newark riots. This time period will include “the clash between African American and Italian America communities.”

Top Gun 2

Miles Teller has been cast as the son of U.S. Navy Lieutenant (junior grade) Nick “Goose” Bradshaw.

This actor joins already cast Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer.

Peter CraigJustin Marks, and Eric Warren Singer wrote the screenplay for the Joseph Kosinski-directed film.

Top Gun 2 will be released in U.S. theaters through Paramount Pictures on July 12, 2019.

Dolemite Is My Name

Keegan-Michael Key has been cast as Jerry Jones, “a playwright who is convinced by [Rudy Ray Moore] to write the screenplay for Dolemite.”

This actor joins already cast: Wesley Snipes, Eddie Murphy, Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Titus Burgess, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

Dolemite Is My Name‘s plot synopsis: “the film based on the life of Rudy Ray Moore, the comedian well-known for his raunchy, X-rated stand up that he also infused with rapping and rhythm, earning him the nickname Godfather of Rap. Moore also became popular for his creation of the character Dolemite in his stand-up routines that, after five years of performing as the urban hero, he decided to bring him to the big screen with the 1975 movie of the same name.”

Craig Brewer is directing the film.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski wrote the screenplay for the film.

Dolemite Is My Name will be released in U.S. theaters in 2019.

Men in Black Spinoff

Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Nicolas, and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois have been cast in unspecified roles.

Matt Holloway and Art Marcum wrote the screenplay for the F. Gary Gray-directed film.

Bloodshot

Johannes Haukur Johannesson has been cast in an unspecified role.

Bloodshot‘s plot synopsis: based on the comic series by Valiant Entertainment, “Bloodshot tells the story of a former soldier killed and brought back to life with technological upgrades, filling his body with billions of nanobots. This allows him to be the perfect soldier by healing from injuries, shapeshift, and even interact with technology.”

Eric Heisserer wrote the screenplay for the Dave Wilson-directed film.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Jim Carrey has been cast as Dr. Eggman / Robotnik, “who is on a quest to assemble the Chaos emeralds.”

This actor joins already cast Tika Sumpter and James Marsden.

Jeff Fowler is directing the film.

Sonic the Hedgehog will be released in U.S. theaters through Paramount Pictures on November 15, 2019.

Firestarter

Fatih Akin has been selected to direct the Stephen King remake film.

Scott Teems will write the screenplay for the film about a “young girl that can create fires with her mind as a result of secret experiments performed on her parents. In the story, the girl is forced to flee from a secretive group that wants to use her abilities, known only as ‘The Shop’.”

Doctor Sleep

Rebecca Ferguson has been cast as Abra Stone, a girl with the most powerful gift for Shining that Danny Torrance has ever met. Her gift “reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival.”

This actress joins already cast Ewan McGregor.

Mike Flanagan is directing the film.

Doctor Sleep‘s plot synopsis: “Published 36 years after The Shining, Doctor Sleep follows an adult Danny Torrance (McGregor) from the original novel. Haunted by the inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel, where he spent one horrific childhood year, Dan has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father’s legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant shining power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes “Doctor Sleep.” There Dan meets Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival.”

Doctor Sleep will be released in U.S. theaters through Warner Bros. on January 24, 2020.

Jonathan Kasdan has been selected to write the script for the film.

Harrison Ford will reprise his role as archeologist Indiana Jones in the film.
