FilmBookCast Ep. 119

FilmBookCast is an entertainment industry podcast on the latest movie and television news.

Each week, Kevin Allen discusses entertainment news, including TV and film trailers. In FilmBookCast Ep.119, Kevin looks at movie previews including Halloween Kills starring Jamie Lee Curtis, and Lost Girls and Love Hotels starring Alexandra Daddario. TV trailers include a preview of season  two of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video, as well as Away starring Hilary Swank on Netflix.

Among this week’s headlines: Actress Naya Rivera is presumed dead after disappearing during a boating trip, ABC is rebooting The Wonder Years with a black family, and Batwoman has found a new actress to wear the cape and cowl.

Kevin wraps up every episode with a movie review. In FilmBookCast Ep.119, he spotlights You Should Have Left, directed by David Koepp.

You Should Have Left’s plot synopsis: based on the novel by Daniel Kehlmann, “Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried star as a couple seeking a restful vacation on an isolated edge of the world in the Welsh countryside only to discover that secrets demand a reckoning and travel with them. Their marriage is shredding at the seams, frayed by her secretiveness, his jealousy, and the shadow of his past.

At first, their vacation with their six year old daughter seems like a perfect retreat, but distorts into a perfect nightmare when Theo’s (Bacon) grasp on reality begins to unravel and he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or Susanna (Seyfried) have revealed, even to each other.”
