Rick Cosnett’s Eddie Thawne Returning on The Flash’s Third Season

It looks like Ronnie Raymond isn’t the only one staging a comeback on The Flash. Rick Cosnett, known for his role as Eddie Thawne during the first season, has announced that he will be coming back on the show during the second half of season three.

Rick Cosnett made the announcement over on his Twitter Page Monday morning, saying that he’s returning to the The CW hit series. He tweeted this: “Hate to tease you but now I can say it: I’m coming back on #TheFlash.” This is just days after Robbie Amell was coming back to the show as Robbie Raymond. But how will Rick come back on the show?

Eddie Thawne appeared as a series regular on The Flash’s freshman season as a CCPD detective. It was during the first season that Eddie started a relationship with his partner Joe West’s (Jesse L. Martin) daughter Iris (Candice Patton). At the end of season one, he sacrificed himself to stop his descendant Eobard Thawne (Matt Lestcher) from changing the timeline and Central City. We also saw that Eddie came back in Season 2 when Barry (Grant Gustin) traveled back in time to find Eobard under the guise of Dr. Wells. It was over there that Barry got Eddie to record a goodbye video for a grieving Iris.

No details were given about when, how, why, and how long Rick would appear on the show. What are your theories on how Eddie Thawne comes back on The Flash?
