FX Network Developing TV Series Based on Alan Moore’s From Hell. Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s critically acclaimed graphic novel From Hell is getting the TV treatment as the series based on Jack The Ripper will be made into a television series for FX.
Deadline reported that the cable network FX is in the midst of creating a drama series based on the graphic novel From Hell, which explores the Jack The Ripper murders. The graphic novel was previously adapted into a 2001 film starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham. The producer of the film, Don Murphy, will be the executive producer on the project who has always envisioned it as a TV series. Children of Men scribe David Arata will write the adaptation. The feature film, which was directed by Albert and Allen Hughes, was a critical failure when it was released. With a television series in place, this should give more ground to cover from the comics than what the film tried to do by putting it all within two hours.
Moore and Campell’s From Hell was in publication from 1989 to 1996 covering a total of 572 pages. The comic book series depicted the fictional account of the gory Whitechapel killings as part of a conspiracy by the Freemasons and the Royal Family. The series also used some historical facts and actual people involved with the case to create a narrative for the story.
