Netflix Wins Rights To Stream Toho’s Planned Animated Godzilla Movie
Netflix has successfully concluded a deal with The Toho Company that will see the streaming service distribute a new Godzilla film done in the style of anime.
The proposed movie, which will mark the first animated entry in the legendary monster movie series, will also be the 30th film from Toho to feature the King of the Monsters. At this stage, not much is known about the movie’s plot, but teaser images appear to suggest that it will see Godzilla emerge at some point in the future, with large, mechanized tanks making their way through forests and a spaceship and its occupants standing near a cliff.
Also working on the production is Polygon Pictures, who will animate the project and bring it to life. The movie is set for theatrical release in Japan later this year, with Netflix set to stream it in over 190 countries.
