GOOD OMENS: Amazon Picks Up Neil Gaiman Limited Series

Originally published in 1990, the book brought the two writers together as they told the story of Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and demon respectively who are forced to work together upon realizing that the world is due to end soon and they would rather that not happen. Reflecting the style and sensibility of both Gaiman and Pratchett, who passed away in 2015, the book managed to strike a chord with readers and remains held in high regard to this day.

Although Pratchett will sadly not see his work adapted for the small screen, Gaiman is ready to work with Amazon on the project. The American Gods author will not only serve as a showrunner for the program but has scripted all six installments as well.

According to Variety, BBC Studios (which will air the series in the UK) director Mark Linsey had this to say:

“This is a fantastic achievement that comes as we begin to grow our global customer base, and it demonstrates there is considerable appetite for BBC Studios to make programs for other broadcasters once we launch as a commercial player,” said Mark Linsey, Director of BBC Studios. “I’m delighted that this major production is with a writer of Neil Gaiman’s stature and we look forward to developing more exciting, innovative projects like this in future.”
