Robin Lord Taylor Wants Kevin Smith To Direct Gotham Episode

Gotham star Robin Lord Taylor hopes that Yoga Hosers director Kevin Smith will helm an episode of the Fox drama.

The actor, who portrays Oswald Cobblepot (also known as The Penguin) in the DC Comics-based series, shared the sentiment over Twitter, telling Smith to “Bring it on” and that the cast of the show “would love to see you in #Gotham!” Smith, for his part, responded humorously but earnestly, asking Taylor to tell the program’s producers to light the “Fat Signal” so he can “waddle on over” to the director’s chair.

Smith, of course, is renowned for his love of comics and superheroes, regularly referencing the medium in his films. One of his most successful movies, the critically-acclaimed Chasing Amy, features Jason Lee as a comic book writer, and the director’s podcast Fatman on Batman explores his longstanding fascination with the Dark Knight.

CBR.com, which is the source of this story, had this to say about it:

There’s no telling what a Smith-directed episode of “Gotham” would look like, but there are few directors in Hollywood more forward about their love for comics, especially “Batman.” While Smith is a well-known director with decades of film experience under his belt, he has also written numerous comic books and graphic novels, including a “Daredevil” arc and the limited series “Batman: Cacophony,” among many others.
