GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3: James Gunn Already Writing Sequel

James Gunn Working On Screenplay For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn confirms that he is currently writing the follow-up Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Gunn’s announcement comes just weeks after the director stated that he would return as a writer and director for the planned Marvel sequel. Reportedly, he is in the midst of what are described as “intense conversations” with series lead Chris Pratt and his co-star Zoe Saldana. Among the things said to be discussed is Saldana’s role, which is rumored to be even bigger in the final installment of the planned trilogy.

All that being said, it will still be some time before the movie hits theaters, as it is not set to come out until well after the next two Avengers movies come out. On top of that, the film will reportedly occur quite a while after the events of either Avengers film, putting even more distance between the two Marvel Cinematic Universe properties.

Per Comingsoon.net, the source of this story:

Producer Kevin Feige previously confirmed to Cinema Blend that the Guardians would be “Evolved slightly, in some recognizable ways. But really they’ll be the Guardians and dealing with the sh*t storm they have to deal with.” With Vol. 3 arriving after the two Avengers movies, expect to see a very different-looking troop of Guardians in the trilogy finale.
