James Gunn To Serve As Writer And Direct For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirms that he will write and direct the planned sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is still a couple weeks away from seeing release, pre-production work is already underway on the next installment of the Marvel science fiction series. No official release date has been offered, but one can rest assured that Disney will try to have the third Guardians film out as soon as possible.

However, Gunn’s involvement with the project was far from confirmed until today when the director announced today that he most certainly would return for it. Indeed, he explained on Facebook that he was reluctant to commit to the project without knowing “in [his] heart” that he could do it, a conclusion that the Super director seems to have finally reached.

Superherohype, the source of this story, quotes Gunn as saying the following about the proposed film:

“Much of what’s happened in the MCU for the past ten or so years has been leading, in a big way, to the Avengers’ Infinity War. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will happen after all that. It will conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.
