Jo Nesbø‘s crime thriller novel Headhunters has been acquired for a film adaptation by Summit Entertainment. To be specific, the 2008 crime thriller is from a Norwegian author and Summit Entertainment has acquired the “English-language movie rights to the international bestselling crime thriller” from production company Yellow Bird. Headhunters grabbed Summit Entertainment’s attention after becoming a New York Time bestseller following its recent publishing in the United States by the Doubleday publishing house.

Headhunters‘ plot synopsis: the book “chronicles the escapades of a high-living corporate headhunter who steals artwork from his rich clients to finance his expensive lifestyle. When a heist unexpectedly goes south, he discovers he’s in way over his head in a murderous scheme.”

When I read the Headhunters synopsis, John Grisham books I have read came to mind and a few Michael Crichton‘s as well.

More on the production and acquisition of Headhunters:

“Erik Feig, Summit’s president of production, acquisitions SVP Michael Schaefer, and creative executive Jeyun Choi will oversee the project for the studio. Marianne Gray, Ole Sondberg, and Berna Levin are aboard as producers via Swedish production company Yellow Bird. Summit acquired the English-language rights from Yellow Bird, which already produced a hit Scandinavian film based on the novel.”

In the last decade or so, Summit Entertainment has brought to the screen The Twilight Saga (BAHAHAHA…sorry), The BeaverThe Brothers BloomThe Hurt Locker, and 50/50, to name a few. Summit Entertainment has an eclectic cadre of films under its belt and like The Hurt Locker, this film should receive the proper support it needs.
