The Hell on Wheels TV Show Trailer has premiered. David Von Ancken‘s Hell on Wheels (2011) stars Anson Mount, Dominique McElligott, Common, Colm Meaney, and Ben Esler. Hell on Wheels‘ plot synopsis: “Hell on Wheels is a contemporary western about post-Civil War America that focuses on a Confederate soldier who sets out to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who have killed his wife. His journey takes him west to ‘Hell on Wheels,’ a dangerous, raucous, lawless melting pot of a town that travels with and services the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, an engineering feat unprecedented for its time. The series documents the railroad’s incredible feat of engineering and construction as well as the institutionalized greed and corruption, the immigrant experience, and the plight of the newly emancipated African-Americans during reconstruction. Over time, ‘Hell on Wheels’ chronicles this potent turning point in our nation’s history, and how uncivilized the business of civilization can be.”
AMC has a great track recorded of late with The Killing, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, even with canceled Rubicon (what a tragedy that show only got one season). Like someone said though, it will be hard for Hell on Wheels to get from under the shadow erected by David Milch‘s Deadwood eventhough westerns seem in vogue now with the recent release of the Blood on My Name Short Film. AMC has already ordered ten episodes of Hell on Wheels, which began shooting in March of 2011. Hell on Wheels also stars Dru Mouser, Phil Burke, Barb Mitchell, Chris Ippolito, James D.
