Fox Planning to Air Hellfire in Early 2017. Hellfire is one of two X-Men TV projects that Fox is looking to adapt on the small screen, but it will be a longer wait than expected for the show to air. Fox announced that they are looking forward to releasing Hellfire sometime in early 2017.
During the Winter TCA, the network gave the media an update on their X-Men TV spin-off, Hellfire. Fox CEO Dana Walden responded by saying that the show won’t be coming out this year, SlashFilm reported. “Unlikely it would be the fall. Potentially midseason but no immediate plans. We’re still working on Hellfire Club. Obviously those executive producers are very busy with the film franchise and the FX show, so not sure.”
There’s also been word that the show’s co-creators Evan Katz, Matty Coto, Patrick McKay, and JD Payne have left the project to work on the upcoming 24 reboot, 24: Legacy. This leaves room for a new creative team to take on the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fox expects to make an announcement on replacements really soon.
Hellfire was to be a period drama set in the 1960s, following the exploits of the Hellfire Club, which was introduced during X-Men: First Class. The series will follow a young Special Agent who tracks down a woman with mutant abilities working for a secret society of millionaires, known as the Hellfire Club, bent on taking over the world. The other show that 20th Century Fox has in the works is Legion, which will be part of FX following the son of Charles Xavier.
