Louis C.K.’s Horace And Pete Picked Up By Hulu
Hulu has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to comedian Louis C.K.‘s dramedy series Horace and Pete.
The deal is the first of its kind between the streaming service and C.K., who produced the series on his own and released it on his site. Previously, the comedian starred, wrote, and produced his semi-autobiographical series Louie for FX, with the program winning 16 awards and being nominated for over 60 other during its five year run before C.K. resolved to put it on hiatus until further notice:
Louis C.K. originally launched Horace and Pete on his website where viewers would play to watch it. Louis C.K. acknowledged in an interview with Howard Stern in April that financially, Horace and Pete, which the comedian had bankrolled himself, did not work, losing “millions of dollars.” At the time, he admitted that a sale to another platform is an option he is considering to recoup some of his investment. “I’ll sell it to another outlet — of course I will, down the road,” he said. All ten episodes are making their streaming debut today on Hulu.
The series revolves around an Irish bar, Horace and Pete’s, and the people who work in and frequent it. C.K., who wrote and directed the series, stars as Horace, the man who runs the bar a year after the death of his father.
